2023 Smart Freight Symposium

The University of Toronto (UofT) hosted the fifth Smart Freight Symposium on November 10th at the Faculty Club. The symposium theme was “Transformation in Urban Freight Transportation”. The symposium involved collaborators from McMaster University, Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU), UofT, York University, and government and private sector stakeholders in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA). The symposium had over 100 attendees from the industry, the public sector, industry partners, and universities. The symposium began with the welcoming remarks of Stark Draper, Vice-Dean of Research at UofT, and with the remarks of Professor Matt Roorda, professor of UofT and the symposium chair.

    Student Competition Award

    The symposium finished with the presentation of the Best Presentation Award, sponsored by Purolator. The winner and runner-up for the award were Kamand Khosravian from York University and Carlos Rivera from UofT, respectively.

    As the symposium drew to a close Dr. Elkafi Hassini, professor from McMaster University and chair of the Smart Freight Centre, gave his closing remarks, thanking all the attendees and organizers of the event.
